Miley Cyrus came in like a ‘Wrecking Ball’ last night and dropped her new single ‘Slide Away’, from her upcoming album ‘She is Miley Cyrus’.
It has been less than a week since Miley split from Liam Hemsworth, after being married in December 2018. Taking on his Instagram, Liam broke this news by posting a personal message.
‘Slide Away’ is a mournful yet hopeful pop number that speaks of people growing apart. The couple have allegedly split because of various issues that are mentioned in the song. The release timing of the single and the nature of its lyrics has given rise to many unanswered questions as well.
Miley posted about the release of the song on her social media.
The song is a solid, moody track that features Miley expressing herself incredibly well but cannot be removed completely from her personal life.
The lyrics seem to reflect the real life struggles of her failed relationship. The lyrics are ominous, referring to their relationship looking perfect on the outside but was miserable on the inside. Another verse makes a drug and alcohol reference. She also states about her struggles with Liam like his partying habit and the couple losing their house in California wildfires.
It also reflects on when they met at 17 and Miley came out as a queer, when she embraced her sexuality along with a thousand other changes they’ve undergone since then. Liam is Australian and she makes references to the ocean and his city on the other side of the world.
