The vibrant Mexican cantina celebrates bold flavours, mezcal culture, and the joy of everyday fiestas
Bengaluru, February 2026: ¡Hola Bengaluru! The fiesta has finally landed in the Garden City. After bringing Mexico’s electric spirit to Churchgate in 2023 and Bandra in 2025, Mezcalita now opens its doors in Bengaluru, where Indiranagar’s easy-going energy meets the heart of Mexico’s cantina culture. Named after the margarita’s cooler cousin, Mezcalita is your ticket to the México locals know, not the one in guidebooks, but the one that hums with colour, rhythm, and camaraderie.
¡Food!
From the bustling markets of Oaxaca to the coastal flavours of Baja, Mezcalita’s menu celebrates the country’s vast regional diversity with food that’s as soulful as it is bold. Every dish carries a story, street-side classics reimagined with authenticity and flair. Kick things off with Chip & Dip Méxicana, Real Deal Loaded Nachos (Chilaquiles), or the cult-favourite Nachos con Chile, familiar, messy, and made for sharing. For quick bites, the Antojitos section brings you Mexico’s favourite street eats, from Habanero Muerte Picante (tempura protein) to Street Cart Corn (Elote de Carrito) and cheesy Poncho Potatoes (Papas Rellenas), each bursting with spice, smoke, and joy.
Rolled fresh and hand-pressed, it doesn’t get more legit than this. Tacos come three ways, masa, flour, or hard shell, shipped the way the Mezcalita team loves them, but you’re free to switch it up to your liking. Each order is a single piece, the perfect excuse to try them all. Travellers moving across Mexico used to lovingly call their small, load-bearing donkeys burritos, a name that inspired this world-famous meal known for carrying a metric ton of flavour. Generous, soulful, and packed with bold fillings, Mezcalita’s burritos are a journey in themselves. The Tortas, Mexico’s bold answer to the humble sandwich, are stuffed, saucy, and unforgettable. Mezcalita bakes its own Telera bread from scratch, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, the only place in India to do so.
Vegetarians have much to love too, from the Portobello Avo-Burger to the Veggie Burrito and Cottage Cheese Torta de Chilaquiles, proof that Mexican food celebrates vegetables with as much passion as meat. The Mexi-Conscious section features fresh bowls and bright flavours for the mindful diner. Save room for the big plates, Fideo Seco (Mexican Angel Hair Pasta), Flautas Ahogadas (Drenched Crispy Taco Rolls), and the 24-hour BBQ Pork Ribs served with loaded potatoes, creamy corn dip, cheese sauce, and a cabbage salad. Desserts, from the famed Tres Leches de Cereza to the golden Cinnamon Churros, close the meal on a nostalgic, indulgent note. And for the little amigos, there’s a special Nachos for Niños and Popcorn Bites menu, because at Mezcalita, everyone’s invited to the fiesta.
¡Drink!
Behind the bar, Mexico’s liquid soul shines bright. Mezcalita’s bar program is a pilgrimage through agave, tequila, mezcal, and the many ways they can surprise you. From the smoky whisper of mezcal to the citrus punch of tequila, every cocktail here is crafted with playfulness and precision.
Mezcalita takes things a step further with a first-of-its-kind cocktail menu inspired by the art of tequila-making. Each of its 11 creations captures a stage in the spirit’s journey, from field to glass. The story begins in the agave fields with the Black Rice de Horchata, a silky mix of mezcal, black rice, pistachio orgeat, and passionfruit; moves through Aguamiel, where tequila mingles with charred bell pepper, cactus, honey water, and jalapeño; and peaks with Vamos Bananas, a peanut butter–washed mezcal ode to the ageing process. It’s not about replicating the method, it’s about channeling the craft, the labour, and the soul behind Mexico’s most iconic spirit.
And of course, the classics remain, bold, bright, and made to make you move. Try the Cha-Chinga (Tequila, Lime, Charred Cucumber, Jalapeño, Coriander, and Bird’s Eye Chili), the effervescent Oaxaca to Osaka (Tequila, Sparkling Sake, Passionfruit, Vanilla), or the summer-perfect La Pomela (Mezcal, Pomelo Soda, Sweet Lime, Campari Salt). For groups, the signature Margarita Towers bring the fiesta to the table, big, boisterous, and meant for sharing. And for the sober-curious, Agua Frescas and Horchata promise all the flavour, none of the fuzz. Here, every pour feels like a story, from the fields of Jalisco to the streets of Bengaluru, poured, shaken, and served with a little Mexican magic.
¡Interiors!
Mezcalita Indiranagar announces itself long before you arrive. The façade unfolds like urban street theatre, arched windows, illuminated signage, Kannada script, hand-crafted details and bursts of bougainvillea colliding in a joyful riot of colour. This energy spills into the alleyway through a bold pink wall hand-painted with a mezcal proverb, guiding guests toward the hand-painted Bienvenidos a Mezcalita doors. Inside, the ground floor is anchored by the instantly recognisable Mezcalita-green bar, a patented design language carried forward from Churchgate and Bandra, now rooted in Bengaluru, glowing with backlit shelves, papel picado accents and a shrine-like display of spirits. The mood is theatrical yet intimate, with warm, dramatic lighting and handcrafted shelves displaying Mexican décor and found objects sourced from local markets, creating a space that feels curated but lived-in.
As guests move through the space and upward, storytelling deepens through material, art and ritual. Tables become canvases, hand-painted rotulo lettering, playful motifs, and textile inlays sealed beneath glass, paired with custom cane weaves developed with Vystrit. A terracotta staircase with Talavera-style tile risers acts as a tactile transition between floors, introducing symbolic elements like the Axolotl and the Milagros wall, both rooted in Mexican mythology and folk tradition. On the first floor, intimate details continue through cinematic washrooms and vintage Mexican film posters, while the narrative across all levels is anchored by the work of renowned Mexican artist Senkoe. His dreamlike, myth-infused visuals run vertically through Mezcalita, transforming the space into a living canvas, where Mexican spirit, Indian craftsmanship and Mezcalita’s unmistakable sense of fun coexist.
¡Team!
The fiesta continues with the Impresario dream team, Rizwan Amlani, Brand Head; Chef de Cuisine Jonatan Torres Muñoz; Brand Mixologist Sachin Yadav; and Head Bartender Akshay Singh, who together bring Mezcalita’s spirit to Bengaluru’s new casa. At Mezcalita, food, drinks, and culture come together like an old song you can’t stop dancing to.
Mezcalita Bengaluru isn’t just a new address, it’s an invitation to slow down, sip up, and celebrate the small miracles of everyday life. Because here, every night is una pequeña fiesta, lived, not staged.
