Description:
From James Ferreira’s home to many other places, here are two artists who have delved deep into culture and history.
Mumbai native Kaushal Parikh, the ex-banker-turned-photographer and painter, unearths intimate layers with his sharp-eyed camera and bold mixed-media strokes. His images and paintings reveal hidden lives amid the wadi’s fading bungalows—humor, controversy, and color exploding from colonial bones.
47-A IS A VENUE FOR ART, CRAFT & DESIGN
It is set in one of our favourite places: the beautiful Khotachi Wadi, one of the original villages of Bombay, in the culturally historic area of Girgaum, rich in diversity and inclusiveness.
47-A Khotachi Wadi is a 19th-century Portuguese-style house, and its ground floor is now our gallery.
We trace the lines between craft, art and design and find them increasingly blurred; 47-A delves into all of these and presents shows that are deeply researched and brilliantly curated.
Our aim is to showcase, to educate and inform, to debate and discuss and to shine a light on the finest craft, art and design that we discover.
