It came as a stun to India when Irrfan Khan announced that he was suffering from a neuroendocrine tumour and needed to go to London for treatment. Since then, the actor has been occasionally sharing updates and his battle with the illness.
Recently, Irrfan was in India for two days but did not want anyone to know about it. He made a succinct visit to the Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple in Nashik, where he performed a havan most probably for his health. Following this two-day visit, he quickly returned to London.
Recently, he had, in fact, visited his family in Nashik as well in time for Diwali. It is dubious whether he performed these rituals during that trip or if he came again for it separately.
In several interviews, the actor has often spoken about how his illness and how it had a drastic impact on him and his insight of the world.
‘It has put me in a rapture state. Initially, I was shaken. I didn’t know. I was very, very susceptible. But slowly, there is another way to look at things that are much more powerful and much more productive and much more healthy and I just want people to believe that nature is much more trustworthy and one must trust that,’ he said.
He said he can approach things in a different manner and he feels thankful for that. ‘The problem with me initially was everyone was speculating whether I would be out of this disease or not. Because it’s not in my hands. Nature will do whatever it has to do. What is in my hand, I could take care of that. And it offers so much that you feel thankful. The way it opens windows to look at life. I would have never reached that state even if I had done meditation for 30 years, I wouldn’t have reached it.’
Irrfan was last seen in the film Karwaan, which starred Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar. For now, he gave an update for his fans that he is undergoing treatment and is expected to be restored to health by March. Moreover, there are also rumours doing the rounds that the actor has green-lighted the sequel for his hit 2017 film ‘Hindi Medium’.
