In India, women have dealt with the stigma of menstrual hygiene and questions about sanitary pads for a long time. But now, things have begun to change. Despite the fact that periods are “icky” apparently, an Indian based film on menstruation, “Period, End Of Sentence”, won an oscar recently and made headlines for starting a dialogue about periods.
Full-service carrier Vistara airlines has announced a “#PadsOnBoard” initiative, under which it will provide biodegradable sanitary napkins onboard to women travellers on request, starting from this International Women’s Day, March 8, 2019. This airline is brought by TATA and Singapore Airlines. It is the first Indian Airline to offer sanitary pads on flights within India.
