Fifty years ago, in the year 1969, Apollo 11 designed by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA, took off from the earth for its journey towards the moon. Four days later, Apollo 11 reached its destination and Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the surface of the moon. Apollo 11 mission, which was commissioned from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, was accomplished by Neil Armstrong along with Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. As the first humans stepped onto the moon, the whole world watched in awe.

Moon landing marked a global supremacy of USA in science and technology by accomplishing an impossible goal.

To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the moon landing, various institutions of the US are hosting events, highlighting the first lunar landing and spaceflight in general. The 1969 moon landing footage will also be aired on NASA Television and the agency’s website. To pay homage United States Postal Service is also introducing two stamps with ‘1969 first moon landing, forever/USA’ written on it.
