The mighty athlete from the Tennis world, Maria Sharapova has called it quits, recently. The five-time Grand Slam champion grabbed her first number one title in the year 2005, becoming the only Russian to ever win singles ranking. Her winning streak kept on going for weeks where Sharapova’s name created a wave across the world.
Now at the age of 32, post her retirement announcement, this Russian tennis star took to her official social media handle, sharing an emotional note on the significance of tennis in her life. Along with a picture of herself from childhood days, holding a racquet in her hand, Maria wrote, “Tennis showed me the world—and it showed me what I was made of. It’s how I tested myself and how I measured my growth. And so in whatever I might choose for my next chapter, my next mountain, I’ll still be pushing. I’ll still be climbing. I’ll still be growing.”
