Now we all know that Ed Sheeran likes to keep his private life personal. But a recent interview has fueled speculations about his marriage. Looks like the Perfect hit-maker is already enjoying wedding bliss, away from the glare of publicity!
Inklings about Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn’s formal union resurfaced recently during an interview with the US news show Access Hollywood. While promoting the new documentary about him, Songwriter, the interviewer asked Sheeran if he had any details picked out yet for the ceremony. The 27-year-old performer wasn’t ready to confirm or deny his current marital status; he shrugged and then held up his left hand, silently acknowledging the silver band on his ring finger. ‘I never do anything too public anyway,’ the singer said with a sheepish broad smile. However, he did not offer up any details about when and where the wedding took place.
This all first came about during an Instagram Q&A session when one fan asked, ‘When’s the wedding?’ to which Sheeran replied, ‘Maybe it’s already happened.’
Ed was spotted wearing a ring of his own several times but shutting down the swirling wedding rumours he told Lorraine’s Dan Wooten on the red carpet, ‘No, I’m not married, I never saw why men didn’t wear engagement rings. It’s the same commitment either way. Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it. I haven’t told anyone that, either.’ Cherry is a hockey player and has played for England’s Under 21 team, helping them earn a bronze medal in the European Championships.
He announced his engagement to his childhood friend, Cherry Seaborn, seven months ago with a sweet snapshot of the couple cuddling on Instagram. They met in school and got together in 2015. Ed admitted the same year that it was the first time he’d ever actually got the time to fall in love properly.
The music composer’s hit song Perfect is about her follows the narrative of him falling in love with a girl he grew up with. The adoration is evident in the words of these poignant lyrics themselves. ‘I found a love for me / Darling just dive right in / And follow my lead / Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet / I never knew you were the someone waiting for me / Cause we were just kids when we fell in love,’ he croons in the song professing his love.

In an exclusive with the ET, during the discussion for his upcoming documentary, Songwriter, premiered on Apple Music this week, the British pop-star got candid about his wedding plans. He believes that small, elegantly simple ceremonies have a good vibe, he added, ‘I don’t like large groups of people at the best of times so… I never wanted a wedding that was lots of people’. It also came as a surprise when the Thinking Out Loud vocalist told that he wasn’t going to sing at his own wedding and even would have his famous friends to take a back seat and instead would love to get someone unknown to perform for his intimate day.
The singer took time away from the spotlight to relax after years of constant touring in 2017. ‘So the catalyst of taking a year off was also the fact that my partner quit her job in New York—which she’s now got back in London, which is really cool—but we were just basically like, let’s quit our jobs and have a year of forming a tight bond. So we went travelling and spent every day for a year together,’ he explained, when Seaborn moved back to London, it inspired him to press pause on his art.
Sheeran also stated that everything is happening just the way it should be, ‘I’ve never been happier. I’ve never been more comfortable. I’ve never been more inspired. I feel like everything’s fallen into place, and it’s fallen into place because I’ve given it the time to fall into place.’
Well, if these gestures are to be believed, then we are very happy for the loving couple and wish them happiness and joy for their wedding.
