An opening win for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was assured but well, the tables turned and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) aced through the match, winning by 10 runs in the first match of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Virat Kohli led team came out to bat first and put a score of 163 on the board. An easy target but SRH was all-out in the last over for 153. For RCB, long considered under-achievers in the league, it was the perfect way to start the tournament.
This match saw RCB’s leg spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal take wickets at the most crucial points of the match and take the team one step closer to the victory line. In the game, he took three important wickets and showed his ability to win games.
Special debut for RCB’s new opener, debutant and Bengaluru boy, Devdutt Padikkal. He stunned everyone with his hand-eye coordination and crispy shots around the ground. The youngster also hit a half-century while facing some of the world’s best bowlers.
