When you need someone to play the latest music tracks at the party or someone who can keep you updated with all the latest news, or want to set a timer for the oven, Google Home has always been a “Friend In Need, Is a Friend Indeed”. 1. Remember where you left things:
Google Home can help you remember where you left your those car keys or those credit cards which you kept in the secret locker. Just say, “Hey Google, remember my passport is in the top drawer”. So next time when you go out, just ask Google, “Hey Google, where is my passport?”, and it will tell you where it is.
2. Get affordable flight prices asap:
Looking for a flight? Just ask, “Hey Google, how much does it cost to fly from Bengaluru to New York and you’ll hear the lowest affordable cost. It can keep track of the cheapest flights for those dates and even e-mail the summary to your Gmail account.
3. Get help in the Kitchen:
Looking for the delicious recipe of Paneer Butter Masala? Don’t peek into the phone and waste the time. Just ask, “Hey Google, how to prepare Paneer Butter Masala at home?” and it will tell you the easiest recipe in any language you want.
4. Create a shortcut:
Suppose, you want to say, “hey google, turn on the lights of the room”. Then, instead of using long phrases every day just create a shortcut. You can say something like, “hey google, Good Morning!” To create a shortcut, open the Google Home app on your smartphone, enter settings, and you’ll see “Shortcuts” under “More” settings.
5. Dress right:
You already knew how to get a simple weather forecast. But not just weather forecast, Google Home also helps you wear an appropriate attire based on the weather out there. Just say, “Ok Google, what should I wear in New York City”. It will start with the weather forecast, followed by clothing recommendations based on the weather. You can also ask additional questions based on your gender.
6. My day:
When you wake up, say, “Ok Google, tell me about my day”, and it will tell you everything starting from date and time, weather forecast, calendar events and news. It literally tells you everything.
7. Get traffic conditions:
It’s so annoying when you are already getting late for the office and still you are stuck in traffic. The roads are packed and you can’t do anything other than waiting and getting more late. But hey what if you already know, the roads are packed so that you can take an alternative route. Just ask Google home what the traffic conditions are and take your call.
8. Order an Uber:
Link your Uber account with Home by going to the Home app on your smartphone and navigating to Settings >More Settings >Services. Then simply say, “Ok Google, get me an uber” and one will be sent to receive you.
9. Laugh:
Yes, Google Home can even make you laugh with some hilarious jokes. Just say, “Ok Google, tell me a joke’ and be ready to roll on your floor laughing.
10. Check if a store is still open:
Need a medicine at late night? But isn’t it heartbreaking to walk in pain to a far shop and find it closed. But how about taking help from Google Home to check whether the store is open or not. Just ask, “Hey Google, check when the Rama Medical Shop is closing” and it will give you all the details you want.
