A nine-year-old girl has been appointed as the State’s Green Ambassador of Manipur. Earlier a video of a crying girl over cutting of two trees broke the internet. Valentina Elangbam, a resident of Manipur’s Kakching district had planted two saplings of Gulmohar tree near the riverbank of her house when she was in class 1.
During the cleaning of the river banks and broadening the roads, the full-grown trees were uprooted which broke the girl’s heart. Uncle of the girl shared her video over Facebook which melted the netizens over her love for the trees.

Soon her video went viral and took notice of the State Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Seeing her love for the plants, CM immediately appointed her the brand ambassador of the Chief Minister’s Green Manipur Mission Scheme, which was launched in the month of June to protect and develop the green cover for sustainable living.
Sharing the order letter on the official handle, CM announced that Valentina Elangbam will be involved in various Government-sponsored tree plantation programmes, including World Environment Day and Van Mahotsava among others.
The student of Amutombi Divine Life School studying in class V, Valentina, will be provided an honorarium at Government rates, transportation facilities, food and accommodation services by the Department that will be sponsoring the awareness campaign.
Her love for plants and CM’s immediate recognition received much applause from people. Many Twitteratis saluted the girl for her passion and thanked the government for giving a chance to a genuine person for creating awareness.
Thank you for not appointing another Bollywood celeb! Genuine people like this inspire others a lot more than the fake ones… https://t.co/eCGHkRWnGU
