2021 has started on a good note for Tahira Kashyap who launched a cinema collective, ‘Indian Women Rising’, along with Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Ruchikaa Kapoor. Soon after announcing their first project, ‘Bittu’, the short film has managed to attract the attention of critics with its stellar screenplay and performances.
Directed by Karishma Dev Dube, ‘Bittu’ has bagged a place in the Oscars race under the ‘Live Action Short Film’ category alongside ‘Da Yie’, ‘Feeling Through’, ‘The Human Voice’, ‘The Kicksled Choir’, ‘The Letter Room’, ‘The Present’, ‘Two Distant Strangers’, ‘The Van’ and ‘White Eye’.
This ecstatic news was announced by Tahira on Instagram where she stated that she can’t keep calm and ‘Bittu’ is special as it was the first project of ‘Indian Women Rising’. Wishing congratulations to all the ‘rockstars’, the writer is happy that her heart along with the other three founders is in the right place.
