Stadium Plan Receives Green Light From City Council

The Liverpool City Council has given a green light to Everton’s plan of constructing a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Along with it, a community-led legacy project at Goodison Park has also been unanimously approved by the city committee.

This plan approval also means the increase in the seating capacity at the Premier League Club’s ground from 40,000 to 52,888. Expressing the gratitude to the Stadium Development Director, Colin Chong, the Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright also stated: “We are also enormously grateful to the many organisations and tens of thousands of individuals across the city region who have given us their feedback, ideas and support along the way. It’s been a good week for Everton and Evertonians.”

As the plan has received the city approval, it would further be referred to the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government where the blueprint of the expansion of Goodison Park will be reviewed for the initial 21 days, post which a decision will be signed by the Government.
