What happens when a Gemini meets a Saggitarius? It explodes to form ‘Gemius’!
Quite often misspelled as ‘Genius’, the company Gemius is fueled by two brains Anushree Pacheriwal and Saurabh Pecheriwal, who got inflicted with the idea of starting their own service after getting Limca Book of Records for creating ‘Samajhdar Sintu’, India’s First Comics on Environmental Education in the year 2010.
A creative & social media agency that also provides press communication and assists its clients with branded content, ‘Gemius’, founded in 2014, specializes in actualising their client’s vision coupled with the marketing expertise and knowledge. And this USP of the company comes through taking a deep dive in each of the projects by the co-founders.
Calling their upcoming years as “years of exploration”, the two entrepreneur minds are all set to expand their boundaries in the Indian market with over ten businesses already in their bag.
Let’s hear it from them how they spearheaded their idea into the Indian market:
1. How and when did you two decide to start your own company?
The inception began in the year 2010. We have always been enterprising and this was during our Graduation. We happened to start by making Comics on Environmental Education in 2010 – Samajhdar Sintu – which eventually got a Limca Book of Records for being India’s First Comics on Environmental Education. The work was well appreciated in the community and then the rest is history. People approached us with some requirements of Graphics and Communication Designs and we thought to form a formal entity which could serve these requirements.
Eventually, in the year 2014, after a lot of learning, exposure, understanding the market potential and freelancing for a lot of small work, we formally formed Gemius.
2. The name of your company is a merger of your sun signs. Do tell us about its significance and how the whole idea came up?
We wanted a name which is unique and meaningful. Anushree is a strong believer in the power of destiny and the fate of stars. She had a strong opinion to coin a name which would favor us in the longer run. One may say ‘What’s in a name?’. But we believe that having the right name which is meaningful and leaves a lasting impression on the beholder’s mind is extremely important.
Gemius came in as a blessing in disguise. We were sitting one evening and trying to do word play when suddenly, Gemius clicked. People still call us ‘Genius’ and some ask if it’s a spelling mistake that we made. But we are glad our name becomes a point of interaction with anyone who is an intrigued soul.
3. You have won several accolades for your incredible service. In the beginning what was your strategy to stand out in the market? Especially when you started from a state which is highly business driven?
We have always been inclined towards diligent service. We strongly believe in owning the brand we work with (for) and ensuring end to end service – no matter what. We stand with our clients in their thick and thin and believe in servicing beyond the scope of work.
Yes, Surat and Gujarat are a highly business driven geography and belonging to a service-based industry, we had our own milestones to reach. But the journey so far has been pretty interesting and full of learnings.
4. Currently, you have a range of clients from various industries, how do you leave a trademark in each of your projects?
We are on a constant learning curve. Sometimes, a totally new industry comes to us – and we usually start learning about the industry, their target clientele, their benefits, strengths and weaknesses – basically we dive deep into each industry vertical to learn each and every bit of their business. This has been a boon to us in serving each of our clients from various verticals and ensuring we are able to offer the best results on their marketing front.
5. What role does digital media play in today’s market?
The world is aggressively moving towards all things digital – with the Internet of Things in place and obviously the pandemic around, people want to rely on digital mediums to consume content as well as product buying. With such a great influx of audience on digital platforms, digital media becomes the best media channel for companies to target their audiences.
Artificial Intelligence is growing its potential each day and we are living in an era where almost everything around us is digitally driven – including our cars now. Brands which are leading from the front on this domain have a bright future. Brands which are not investing on technology or digital mediums and are still playing the traditional game will soon become obsolete.
6. What new spheres will the company be exploring in the upcoming years?
We love experimenting and adding multiple businesses to our vertical. So far, we might have invested our time and energies in over 10 businesses.
The next few years are years of exploration for us. We are trying to grow our base in production, media planning & buying, influencer management, advertising, performance marketing and a few other verticals. At the same time, we are also partnering with a few brands to grow their revenue share in the market.
