The latest buzz is that 93 million people play Candy Crush daily. You would have definitely noticed your friends playing this game in their free time, or your that office colleague who passes time playing it in those boring meetings or co-travellers in metros, trains or buses obsessively nudging fingers at the screen filled with bright and colorful candies and those never-ending facebook invites. It’s hands down an addictive game but it has also unexpectedly taught many life lessons. Let’s dig a little deeper and understand what it is.
1. To really win, you must concentrate and have a strategy
If you keep playing the game, you would move to the next level but not really win. So to win, you need to focus on what you are doing. But how you could win without a strategy? Of course, you need one. In games or in any phase of life, if you want to move forward and win you must have a strong strategy.
2. Believe in magic
You’re stuck at the same level for the past two weeks. You have literally tried your best, gave all your time, used all the powers you had and even paid for an extension once in a while. And just when you’re frustrated and tired and ready to delete it, suddenly all the elements which you need to move forward appears on your screen and finally, you’re in next level.
Magical, right?
Magic even surprises us in real life. You give your everything, breakthroughs happen when you least expect it, and at the end, you just give up. But time is like magic. It comes at the right time, at the right spot.
3. You get better results when you don’t constantly look at the score
This is statistically proven- if you constantly look at the scoreboard, you’re most likely to lose. Heard that dialogue of 3 Idiots movie, “Pursue Excellence and Success will follow”. It really works. If you keep worrying about your success, you won’t be able to concentrate on your excellence. That’s how life goes!
4. Expect the unexpected
You have been expecting that blue candy to finish your level, and sadly a useless yellow candy falls. Here is where your game comes to an end. When you start expecting, things don’t happen that way, which leaves you sad and heart-broken. Also, expectation leads to failure. So, always be ready to accept the unexpected.
5. Challenges increase every day
When you play the starting level, you easily win all the levels without any effort. But, as soon as you become a master in it, difficulty level also increases. It all depends on your capability.
When you were just a year old, learning the alphabets was a big challenge for you. But now, when you’re grown up, you have more big challenges ahead. Challenges increase every day depending on your capability of dealing with it.
6. Figure it out as you go
I have never read about the rules of candy crush game. I just downloaded the app, started the game and figured it out along the way. Likewise, it is not compulsary that every situation or circumstances come before you, giving you all the rules to deal with it. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow and figure it out on your own as you go.
7. Sometimes, it’s better to walk away
Sometimes you get stuck on a horrible difficult level and run out of lives. All you could do is, leave the game, keep your phone aside for some time and then come back and play with a fresh mind. Candy Crush has taught me that. When you encounter challenges in life, the best way to handle such situations is to walk away for a while and try to come back later, refreshed and hopefully in a better state of mind.
8. Change your tactics
You cannot win all levels depending on your just one strategy. You need different strategies for different levels to clear. Sometimes, different strategies for the same level when required. In the same way, you cannot depend on your one strategy to pass all hurdles of life. You should always be ready to change your tactics when required.
