Year 2019 seems to be a year of sequel releases, be it Bollywood or Hollywood. Below is a list of upcoming sequels of Bollywood which resume or release in 2019.
1. Hera Pheri 3
Our favorite trio, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal who made us laugh out loud, are all set to reunite with the same motive to make audience roll on the floor laughing. Hera Pheri, which was released in 2003, featuring these three actors, was announced as one of the best comedy films ever made in Bollywood. And, now we can’t wait to see the next sequel of Hera Pheri hitting the big screens. The film is said to be released in July 2019.
2. Housefull 4
Housefull 4 is the fourth instalment of Housefull franchise. After the success of the last three instalments and big box office collections, Farhad Samji is ready with Housefull 4 which will hit the silver screens on 26th October 2019 starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde and Rana Daggubati. The first, second and third part of the movie was directed by Sajid Khan, but due to unknown reasons, the fourth part of the movie will be directed by Farhad Samji.
3. Hindi Medium 2
A situational comedy film based on social issues, Hindi Medium is a 2017 film starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar. The movie was all about the hassles faced by parents to teach their child in English Medium School. Irrfan Khan is now back in Mumbai after undergoing treatment for Neuroendocrine tumour in London and might resume shooting the sequel. While Hindi Medium was directed by Saket Chaudhary, its sequel is being directed by Homi Adajania. The film is said to be released in Dec 2019.
4. ABCD 3
‘Naach Meri Jaan Naach’ because it’s time for ABCD 3. Prabhu Deva has made us dance with his amazing moves in the first and second iteration of the movies, ABCD and ABCD 2. And he is back to make us dance harder with its third sequel. ABCD 3 is all set to release on 8 November 2019, directed by Remo D’Souza starring Varun Dhawan in a lead. However, the lead actress of the movie has not been confirmed yet. So, let’s wait to see which leading lady enters the franchise now.
5. Sadak 2
Sadak, a 1991 film, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, is all set for its sequel to be released on 25 March 2020. The film Sadak 2 picks up from where Sadak left. And after 19 years, Mahesh Bhatt is returning to his directorial chair, featuring his daughters Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt (who was the lead actress in the 1991 film) with co-stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt.
6. Ishq Vishk 2
Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao’s movie Ishq Vishk (2003) was all about college romance and comedy. And guess what? The movie will have a sequel. The makers haven’t confirmed the cast yet. Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, ‘Haider’, ‘Udta Punjab’ is busy shooting Kabir Singh, the remake of Telugu super hit Arjun Reddy.
7. Student Of The Year 2
Student of the year 2 is all set to hit the theatres on 10 May 2019. The sequel of Student Of The Year is an Indian romantic comedy-drama directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar starring, Tara Sutaria, Ananya Pandey and Tiger Shroff. The old students, Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan even sent a heartfelt message to the new students.
8. Kick 2
After Kick’s success, Salman Khan is back with its sequel, ‘Kick 2’ directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. It is reported that Kriti Sanon might star opposite Salman Khan. The movie will release during Christmas 2019.
