Bollywood has brought many movies depicting the rivalry for legacy. A storyline revolving around the fight between two clans for the supremacy never loses heat, giving rise to huge blockbuster hits. Telling the same story on the screen once again, the action-packed trailer of ‘Prassthanam’ has been dropped on Wednesday.
The two and a half minute trailer starts with a brief conversation of a kid with his grandfather questioning the morality behind the killing of Ravana by Lord Ram if it is a heinous crime and then enters Sanjay Dutt as Baldev Pratap Singh, massacring people single-handedly. As the trailer proceeds, the audience see the story of political war, disturbed family relations, loyalty, fight for supremacy and above all a war of morality. Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey play the role of two sons of Baldev, where Ali is definitely a favoured one because of his sincerity while Satyajeet appears to be a brat who is envious of Ali (which obviously has consequences). Amidst all this, Baldev has bigger issue: Chunky Pandey. Chunky is a prominent rival of Baldev, trying to uproot him and be in power. Trailer also shows Jackie Shroff who appears to be a loyal confidant of Baldev standing by his side since forever. The role of Baldev’s wife is played by Manisha Koirala (and for a second we got confused that it’s the star cast of ‘Sanju’, only to realize Sanjay Dutt was not in it). Manisha appears to be a broken person stuck in the chaos of the whole political game of legacy.
The trailer shows the story of betrayal and fight for power which is possible only with bloodshed. Sanjay’s dialogue about the fire that resides in every individual that can be both deadly and a ray of light erasing the darkness summarizes the whole story which questions the loyalty and integrity of a man in the race of dominance. The video clip gives a very familiar vibe of ‘Raajneeti’ movie only in more violent form.
The star-packed movie with blood-shedding, fight scenes, and political games is co-produced by Sanjay Dutt and Manyata Dutt. A remake of 2010 Telugu movie of the same name directed by Deva Katta is set to hit the theatres on 20 September.
Till then keep guessing who wins this war!
