This year’s Miss Universe is declared and it’s none other than Zozibini Tunzi.
The 26-year-old coloured beauty hails from Tsolo, South Africa and actively works to fight against gender violence.
On the concluding night of the Miss Universe beauty pageant, comedian turned host Steve Harvey, in a nerve-wracking moment and without making any mistake as the previous year announced the name of the winner and the 2018 beauty queen Catriona Gray crowned Zozibini on the stage of Atlanta, Georgia.

In the final round, the three finalists were asked “What is the most important thing that we should be teaching the young today?”, to which Miss South Africa replied “ Leadership” and received a huge cheer from the crowd, winning everyone’s heart. She continued her speech as to how it will bring the change if young girls know their self-worth and take up space in society.

The American talk show host Oprah Winfrey also extended her support to the Miss Universe’s answer and sent out the greetings on her win. Sharing a small clip of the night, Oprah on her official social media handle wrote, “Congratulations Miss South Africa, the new Miss Universe @zozitunzi! Agree with you…leadership is the most powerful thing we should be teaching young women today. We welcome your visit to #OWLAG, our Leadership Academy for Girls ”.
