One of the most awaited films of 2019 has to be the Dharma Productions’ Kalank. Starring one of the best cast one could ask for which includes Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, Karan broke the silence about the film finally and shared the first picture from the film.
Set in the Forties, Karan revealed an intriguing story about Kalank’s origin and wrote, ‘A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago… a film I passionately believe in… the last film my father worked on before he left us… it was his dream to see this film come through… I couldn’t fulfill his dream then… my spirit was broken… but today his wish has found a relationship with celluloid.’ The filmmaker added, ‘The story of turbulent relationships and eternal love has found a voice….the film has been woven, nurtured and visualised by ABHISHEK VARMAN….and the film Is KALANK! Set in the 40’s but it’s heart lives on…..TOMORROW the journey begins…..am excited …anxious and emotional about this one…I do hope you join us on our path to undying love…..#KALANK.’
Later that day, one by one the ‘Men Of Kalank’ debuted their first looks on social media and we couldn’t stop gushing over them. Varun Dhawan was introduced as Zafar, the one who flirts with life and danger, Aditya Roy Kapur was introduced as a virtuous heart with an uncorrupted mind, Dev Chaudhry while Sanjay Dutt came for us as the most powerful voice of the table, the formidable Balraj Chaudhry. The men of Kalank took our hearts away.
But the cast seemed to have been waiting for the Women’s day to unveil the looks of the ladies of Kalank. Alia Bhatt was introduced as Roop, described as, ‘she’s full of life and has a heart of gold.’ Sonakshi Sinha as Satya, described as, ‘she is pure, elegant and filled with love.’ And lastly, we had dhak-dhak girl Madhuri Dixit described as, ‘enchanting, ethereal and timeless.
