Indian Volleyball Under 23 team settled for a silver medal after a 1-3 loss against Chinese Taipei in the final of the Men’s Asian U-23 Volleyball Championships in Myanmar, yesterday. It’s the first time that Indian Volleyball team reached finals.

In the semifinals of the same championship, Indian team was in front of a familiar rival, the Pakistan team, and defeated them by 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 on 10 August. The victory was celebrated wildly and the team was appreciated for the win by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju.

Although, on Sunday the luck was not on the team’s side and they lost the match to Chinese Taipei. The team was trailing 17-21 and managed to take it till 23-24, but lost in the end.

The team will be back home with the silver medal on 13 August.

However, Muthusamy and Prince were adjudged the best setter and blocker of the Asian U-23 Men’s Volleyball Championship, respectively.
