The movie was released last year on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and became one of the biggest hits of the country taking up an unconventional topic and throwing light on the electoral fraud. South Superstar Vijay, who is currently riding on the success of ‘Bigil’, was in the lead role as an NRI. A political action drama showcased the emergence of a vigilant countryman into a leader who fought the corruption for a better India.
Before the release, ‘Sarkar’ landed in many controversies especially due to the reference of Thalaivi Jayalalithaa in one of its audio track. The movie also led to an increase in the number of hits on the details about Section 49P on Google over one night.
