The Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2019 is happening in the city that never sleeps, Mumbai. On the first day, it was owned by newbies as well as veterans. Many young designers debuted in the fashion industry with this edition of LFW that completed 20 years, while other designers celebrated their years-long journey in the industry. Rising and new designers from different parts of the country showcased their contemporary collections inspired by regional traditional wears, marking their debut on the LFW ramp with the Gen Next show.
On the other hand, celebrated designer Payal Singhal marked her 20 years in the fashion industry. Actors Shibani Dandekar and Farhan Akhtar turned showstoppers for the designer. The duo set major couple goals on stage as they walked hand-in-hand and wore colour-coordinated ethnic dresses for their ramp walk.
Shibani Dandekar looked stunning in an embellished, pastel-shaded lehenga paired with a matching choli and a chic, fringed shrug thrown over it. Bling earrings and glittery eye make-up added oodles of sheen to the look. Farhan Akhtar was equally fashion synchronised in a multi coloured kurta-pyjama set, which he conveniently paired with sneakers.
While, designer Amit Aggarwal launched his luxury pret collection called ‘Flux’ with cricketer Hardik Pandya and actress Lisa Haydon walking the ramp as showstoppers.
Aggarwal, who is known for engineering recycled products in his designed garments, this time tied up with R-Elan, the Reliance Industries’ textile arm to create the grandeur pieces in fluid, free flowing fabrics.
Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya walked the ramp and owned it, wearing a dark maroon trench coat with a pink shirt as the inner just peeking through. He paired it with brown trousers and brown studded shoes to complete his look.
Lisa Haydon sashayed and killed the ramp in an Avant Garde metallic saree, which has never looked this good. With a high-slit and sleek hair, the diva did what she does best with minimal makeup for the go.
Designer Pallavi Mohan presented her latest ‘Not So Serious Collection’, inspired by the disco subcultures which featured flowy silhouettes and loads of feathery textures on the outfit. Metallics were her main focus and she brought back the iconic braids that went well with the outfits. Actress Esha Gupta played muse to the designer in a stunning ombre metallic gown with a long trail and feathered texture.
