Former President Pranab Mukherjee is no more.
The Bharat Ratna Awardee was admitted in the hospital a few weeks back after his health started deteriorating due to prolonged illness, post which his son Abhijit Mukherjee kept the nation updated about the health condition of the former president.
Earlier, today Abhijit Mukherjee shared a tweet on his official handle urging the nation to pray for his father’s health and now he delivered us the sad news as he thanked the doctors of RR Hospital and his well-wishers and wrote, “With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India !

As soon the news broke out, current President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his grief on the unpleasant news and sent his condolences to the late President’s family and friends and wrote, “Sad to hear that former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee is no more. His demise is passing of an era. A colossus in public life, he served Mother India with the spirit of a sage. The nation mourns losing one of its worthiest sons. Condolences to his family, friends & all citizens” along with a series of tweets where he also glorified the journey of Pranab Mukherjee in the Indian Politics and as the country’s first citizen.
