Kanakavalli presents a special curation of saris in a palette inspired by the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2024, Peach Fuzz. This delicate shade of soft orange shot through with hints of pink has been described as gentle, nurturing and velvety, reminiscent of the colours of sunrise and sunset.
This colour family takes on an exquisite radiance on the lush silks of our kanjivaram sarees, as well as on a selection of silk – cotton drapes and Pradeep Pillai’s signature handcrafted weaves. Traditionally, the queen of silks has been associated with rich jewel tones but, in reimagining the craft for a modern landscape, Kanakavalli explores a palette of more contemporary pastels, including warm shades of peach. Extending our curation beyond the queen of silks, we also bring you versatile cotton and silk cottons as well as a selection of Pradeep Pillai’s exquisite saris, in colours adjacent to Peach Fuzz, with embellishments in zari and occasional pops of contrast colour.
With a new year on the horizon, the colour evokes compassion, community and peace-which we hope will define 2024.
Ahalya S, Founder and Creative Director of Kanakavalli says: “Peach is a delightful departure from the shades of pink that are typically associated with the kanjivaram. These warm shades of peach are also beautiful when set against Indian skin tones.”
