Ode — a dining experience by Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality (ABNAH), part of the Aditya Birla Group — embarks on an exciting new chapter with the launch of its refreshed menu. Since opening its doors in December 2023, this fine-dining restaurant, helmed by Chef Rahul Akerkar, has quietly earned a reputation as one of Mumbai’s most thoughtful and imaginative dining destinations.

Located in Worli, Ode’s space is a visual poem: warm textures, cloud-mesh lighting, and an open kitchen invite guests to be part of the experience. But it’s more than just ambience. At Ode, the soul of the restaurant lies in its food — deeply personal, instinct-driven, and rooted in memory.
With the debut of its new menu, Ode remains true to its core: a place where food tells stories. Chef Akerkar’s cooking isn’t about theatrics — it’s about connection. Over the past year, Ode has built a loyal following with its dishes that surprise not by flash, but by depth and feeling.
“This menu isn’t a pivot — it’s a continuation,” says Chef Akerkar. “It’s about listening — to our guests, to those small, quiet moments that tell you when something just works. The belief here is that care isn’t just what’s plated — it’s how we serve, how we evolve.”
The new menu features approximately 22 new dishes, with an increased focus on vegetarian options, all striking a balance between creative expression and comfort. Chef Akerkar’s personal favourites? “I’d go for the duck salad any day — and probably finish with the truffle crème brûlée, just to indulge.”
Not every dish has a dramatic backstory. Some — like the Bhavnagri Chili Tempura filled with sweet potato and served with romesco — are simple pleasures: crisp, balanced, and comforting. Others carry quiet sentiment, like the Bucatini Peperone “Carbonara”.
“My wife’s vegetarian. So when we travelled through Italy, carbonara was never on the table. This one’s for her,” shares Chef Akerkar. “We use roasted yellow peppers and ricotta — not as substitutes, but as their own thing.” Paired with the Newtonian — a mix of J&B Rare, apple shrub, rooibos, hazelnut, and lime — the dish’s warmth is echoed and edged by just the right amount of acidity.
The Grilled Miso Napa Cabbage Caesar is another standout, topped with croutons made from dhondas, a traditional Maharashtrian cucumber cake inspired by a dish Chef Akerkar’s Aaji once served. The dish is warm, soft, and subtly sweet, its umami lifted by optional bacon and complemented by the Beet Around the Bush cocktail — Ketel One, beetroot shrub, balsamic, and kahwa tea.
Each dish is shaped by memory, craft, and intention. Take the Ode to Prawn Cocktail — inspired by a nostalgic memory of cold shrimp cocktails and beer at Monkey Bar in New York. At Ode, it’s reimagined with creamy layers, devilled egg, tobiko, and warm brioche, topped cheekily with shoestring fries. It pairs beautifully with the Bleating Russki — a bold cocktail of Ketel One, goat cheese, cockscomb, and strawberry — bringing sweet, savory, and floral notes into harmony.
The menu is expansive, yet coherent. From Ulli Theeyal-inspired shallots enriching a Spiced Buff Tenderloin, to a fig mostarda elevating Pulled Duck and Arugula, each dish is part of a larger dialogue — between cultures, memories, and people. No detail is accidental. The lobster risotto finds balance in the Djinn Gin — a citrusy, floral blend of Gordon’s, kumquat, kaffir lime leaf, jasmine, and tonic.
Desserts at Ode follow the same philosophy: understated indulgence. The Dark Chocolate Basque Cheesecake, Vegan Chocolate Fudge Cake, and Truffle Crème Brûlée aren’t built to impress — they’re designed to soothe, to linger, to end the meal with warmth.
With this new menu, Ode doesn’t reinvent itself — it deepens its story. It honours its guests, its roots, and the quiet joy of cooking with care. The beloved classics remain — the smoky BBQ Black Sesame Chicken Wings, the tender Charred Prawns, the sticky-sweet Apricot Rum Glazed Ribs, and the bold Peruvian Spiced Chicken — dishes that have found their way to many favourite tables.
But the journey continues. With every new dish comes a chance to create fresh memories, shaped by the same warmth, curiosity, and quiet confidence that make Ode feel like home.
