Ahead of the US Open tournament, which will commence from 31 August, Rafael Nadal took the decision of skipping the prestigious event as a precautionary measure to control the spread of Coronavirus.
The Grand Slam winner took to his official social media handle, sharing a series of tweets citing his concerns over the increasing COVID cases worldwide and how he regrets not participating in the upcoming tournament.
Rafa shared the posts in both English and Spanish and wrote, “After many thoughts I have decided not to play this year’s US Open. The situation is very complicated worldwide, the COVID-19 cases are increasing, it looks like we still don’t have control of it.” as he acknowledged the efforts of organizers and the federation for organizing the tournament meanwhile stating his choice to avoid travelling, looking at the current day scenario.
