Manpreet Singh has created history by becoming the first Indian to grab FIH Men’s Player of the Year award by winning over Belgium’s Arthur van Doren and Lucas Vila of Argentina with a difference of almost 16% votes.

The FIH awards were started in the year 1999 and after a wait of almost two-decade, an Indian has clinched the top position. The midfield player, Manpreet made his debut in the National Hockey team of India in the year 2011 and since then the athlete’s graph has been soaring high.
His latest show of talent was seen in the Olympics Qualifiers where under his leadership Indian team clinched the spot in the Tokyo Olympics of this year. The man till date has made almost 260 appearances in the field, representing India and is definitely not slowing down.
