The Mumbai Indians social media page is glistening with the memories of Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga.
A sad day for Mumbai Indians fans, the iconic name of the cricket field, Malinga has bid adieu to the franchise cricket. After having a successful run in the five-time winning team, Mumbai Indians, Malinga had proven himself to be the most consistent player of the paltan. While playing 122 games since 2009, he has taken 170 IPL wickets and proved to be the integral member in the team’s victories.
On the retirement announcement of the bowling sensation, owner of Mumbai Indians, Akash Ambani also stated: “Lasith Malinga has been at the core of Mumbai Indians for 12 years. We respect his decision, even though I would have liked him to be part of our bowling attack for another 5 years.”
The athlete sending greetings to the coach and owner of Mumbai Indians also gave out his reason for quitting from franchise cricket form. He stated: “After discussing with family, I think now is the right time to retire from all franchise cricket. The Pandemic situation and the restrictions on travel will make it difficult for me given my personal circumstances to participate fully in franchise cricket for the next year and therefore it is best to make this decision now” and thanked the fans and the team for their all-time support.

👀 Malinga is staring down. He lifts his hand up and kisses the ball. Wankhede is echoing with MA-LIN-GA MA-LIN-GA as he picks up momentum in his run up. He slings and bowls. The ball moves, dips and finds the base of the stump through the batsman’s defence. 🎯 pic.twitter.com/kFe7H8JSt9
