Expressing grief over the death of the ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to send his condolences to his family as well as the country.
Passing away at the age of 91, Modi termed Sheikh Sabah termed him as a beloved leader of the Arab World, close friend to India and great statesman of the world. He played the leading role in strengthening bilateral relations and always took special care of the Indian community in Kuwait.
The late Kuwait Emir was known for diplomatic methods to resolve disputes, especially between Qatar and other Arab nations which continues to this day. Sheikh Sabah made Kuwait as the top oil rich nation, amended for closer ties with Iraq after the Gulf War and found solutions to other regional crises.
