‘Kargil Vijay Divas’ is celebrated on 26 July to pay tribute to all Kargil Heroes who sacrificed their lives in Kargil War and Operation Vijay, to secure a heroic victory for India against the clever Pakistani troops on this date in 1999.
As it is 20 Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Divas, India took to their social handle to salute and pay respect to Kargil martyrs and the war veterans. The first ones to tweet were President of India-Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President of India-Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister-Narendra Modi, Defence Minister- Rajnath Singh, Union Minister- Prakash Javadekar, Major D P Singh and Lt General-Syed Ata Hasnain. Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram handle sharing one of his stills from his patriotic film titled ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ which will be re-released today. He writes, “Happy and honoured to share that our Film #UriTheSurgicalStrike will be re-released only for today, July 26th, to commemorate ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’. It will be screened for free in 500 theatres across Maharashtra. Extremely thankful to the Maharashtra State Government for their support and encouragement to this initiative by @rsvpmovies.Jai Hind 🇮🇳”.

Among these, how can we forget Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who has done maximum patriotic films to pay tribute to Indian soldiers. The actor shared a video on his Instagram handle where some Army men are seen singing the song ‘Teri Mitti’, from his devoted film ‘Kesari’. He captioned the video saying, “Came across this heart-warming video which made my day. When your small tribute reaches the people it’s meant for…what more can you ask for? A million salutes to our #BharatKeVeer”.
In another post Akshay Kumar shares a picture of himself carrying a book titled ‘India’s Most Fearless 2”. He writes, “I’m not much into books, but today as we pay tribute to our brave martyrs on 20 years of #KargilVijayDiwas, I’ve picked up #IndiasMostFearless 2 by #ShivAroor&#RahulSingh . May we never forget our soldiers whose courage and heroism lets us live in peace, day after day”.
The actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming space-drama film titled ‘Mission Mangal’ which will showcase the real-life story of Indian women scientists who launch a successful space mission.
