India broke its own record at the 13 edition of South Asian Games held from 1 December at various venues in Nepal.
With Indian athletes performing extraordinarily in the game, where above 2,700 athletes from seven countries participated in 27 sports, India bagged 312 medals this year with 174 gold, 93 silver and 45 bronze.
Congratulating all the athletes for such an incredible show, Sports Authority of India on its official social media handle wrote, “India sets new record! India create a new record at the #SouthAsianGames with as they reach 312 medals, three more than their tally in 2016. India won 174 golds, 93 silver and 45 bronze medals. Many congratulations to all the athletes for the fantastic feat.”

In the year 2016, India topped the trophy table with 309 medals and since the beginning of this year’s games, the audience was anticipating if India would be able to cross its own record.
Earlier, hoping for the same, the Sports Authority of India also took to its social media handle writing, “India hits 300! For the second time in the South Asian Games, India have touched the 300 medal mark. Can they create a new record by overhauling the 309 medals they won in 2016? Watch this space for more.”

Meanwhile, to keep the sports free from drugs, National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) appointed one of the fittest actors from Bollywood as its Brand Ambassador to promote a healthy environment in sports and it’s none other than Suniel Shetty.
The actor soon took to his official social media handle sharing the news with his fans, writing, “Honoured to be appointed Ambassador of National Anti Doping Agency to drive their mission of dope free sports. Look forward to contributing to the efforts of @KirenRijiju #NADA #NavinAgarwal @AdvocateDhanda in educating young athletes across India about fair play. Jai Hind”.
