The Concacaf Preliminary draw for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in North, Central America and the Caribbean will be held on 19 August at 19:00 CET at the Home of FIFA in Zurich.
Based on the FIFA World Ranking as of 16 July 2020, the draw for the first round will allocate the 30 lowest-ranked Concacaf teams to six groups consisting of five teams each.
The winners of each of the six groups will advance to the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in March 2021 and post second round, the remaining teams will proceed to the final round of Concacaf which will be held in June 2021.

Meanwhile, due to ongoing COVID-19 situation and considering the health and safety of all participants, FIFA and the Asian Confederation have jointly decided that the upcoming qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 will be postponed to 2021 which was originally scheduled to take place in October and November 2020.
However, FIFA and the AFC will continue to work together to closely monitor the situation in the region and announce the new dates for the qualifying matches in due course.
