The one-stop destination for a weekend shopping binge, Desikala, is back in town. Starting from July 05 till July 14, 9:00 am onwards at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, in Bangalore, the fair will have everything, from exquisite handmade silver, gemstone jewellery to hand painted home decor and hand-woven textiles.
Desikala is a pan-Indian art and craft and handloom fair, with participation from craftsmen, weavers and vendors. Visitors can expect a vibrant collection of dress materials, handloom silks, handcrafted jewellery, home décor, and other art and crafts.
One can find handloom fabrics like Kanchipuram silk from Tamil Nadu, Bangalore silk, raw silk materials from Karnataka, pure silk zari sarees from Andhra Pradesh, crepe and georgette sarees, Mangalgiri dress materials, Kalamkari, Pochampally, Uppada, Gadwal and Dharmawaram in the fair.
Added to this will be silk sarees from Andhra Pradesh, Bhagalpur, Jammu Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, and Orissa; Jaipur kurti, block prints, Anganeri prints, Kota Doria from Rajasthan, Dhakai Jamdani from West Bengal and Zari Paithani saree from Maharashtra.

The exhibition gives artisans a platform, so that they can get maximum exposure in the market, for their hard work. It is a social initiative to help them grow.
