Lynch as 007 Bond, signals major progress for a franchise that has long believed Bond to be an exclusive male character. Up until this point, the role of the world’s greatest secret agent has been played by white men.
However, Daniel Craig, will reprise his role as Bond in the movie, Lynch will come in as a new secret agent and take over his famous codename.
The movie is written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who has emerged as one of the most brilliant feminist voices of this era with her series, Fleabag and Killing Eve. She recently commented, ‘It has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly.’
Fans are hoping for Lynch to shine in her role and Craig to gracefully accept his retirement. The upcoming Bond movie will also feature Rami Malek, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik, Dali Benssalah, Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Jeffrey Wright.
