Bengaluru FC earns a play-off spot for AFC Cup, along with Goa FC, and ATK-Mohun Bagan from India for the 2020-21 season.
While Bengaluru FC finished third in the Indian Super League (ISL), they will enter the tournament from the first round, play-offs. Goa FC and ATK-Mohun Bagan have qualified for the group stages of the AFC Champions League as they were winners in the ISL and I-League respectively.
The play-off slot was originally reserved for the winner of the ISL play-offs. ATK emerged on top and formed a joint venture with Mohun Bagan from 1 June, choosing direct entry into AFC’S group stage. In such a scenario, the play-off position should have gone to the runner-up in the ISL league phase. Since ATK was the runner-up, BFC finished third in ISL, earning the honour.
Good luck, Bengaluru FC!
