Boney Kapoor took a step forward in South Indian industry when he declared that he is remaking the Bollywood blockbuster film Pink in Tamil titled Nerkonda Paarvai with Ajith playing the lead role. Now, the latest buzz is producer Boney Kapoor is set to re-create last year’s hit Hindi film Badhaai Ho in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Badhaai Ho, which also featured Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra, is based on the story of an elderly couple who are expecting their third child. Badhaai Ho was among the top five Indian movies of 2018. And now, Boney will remake the Hindi film for the South Indian viewers.
Speaking about the remake, Boney, in a conference, said, ‘I have acquired the rights of Badhaai Ho under my production house Bay View for all the South Indian languages. I was keen on remaking it as it is a film that resonates with both the masses and classes.’
Boney also takes pride in launching director Amit Sharma (who directed Badhaai Ho) in Tevar, when he was an ad director. In a speech, a source said, ‘Producer Boney Kapoor was the first to put his faith in Amit who at the time was a celebrated ad filmmaker. Now that his recent film Badhaai Ho went on to achieve blockbuster status, Boney will be taking the film to the South market.’
‘Right now, my priority is to complete Nerkonda Paarvai because though I have made films down South with Ram Gopal Varma (the Telugu films Raatri and Antham), I’m returning to the South after 25 years. Anyway, I am still to lock the director and artists which will take a while,’ said Boney Kapoor.
When asked why he is remaking Hindi films, he said: ‘Earlier I used to buy rights of South Indian films to make in Hindi. Now I am reversing the process.’
Excited!
