The Monopoly has always been an iconic game all over the world. The baby steps of making a dreamy conglomerate can start at your dinner table, thanks to Monopoly. However, after years to make the game as interesting as it can get, the makers have decided to give in to the maximum thrill seeker, the cheaters.
Titled the Cheater’s Edition, this version of Monopoly actually celebrated the new age. You can skip paying rent, muddle your way through prison, pay lesser, or just plain lie – as long as you cant get caught. If you successfully dodge the bullet, then there are rewards, the types that will only make the straight-laced co-players green with envy.
Apparently, the makers realised that 50 per cent of the game players leisurely bends the rules anyway. That is convenient for sure. However, when we pulled out the stops on the game, we realised that cheating is a lot difficult if made public. However, the pesky ones always get it out. The fun is the fact that now there is always a lookout to know who can cheat, giving much more laughs than usual. This version of the game also removed the banker role from the game. Which means that each player can dip his hands into the treasury, making things much more thrilling.
Talking about thrills – there is an actual handcuff with this version, no kidding. Anyone who is fortunate to visit the prison gets a knock off the plastic handcuffs and to watch people fuss over the lack of freedom, is another excitement altogether.
Monopoly has definitely reinvented itself, and we are eager to see whether this cheating trend casts its shadow in other board games as well.
