Jitendra Sharma, an active Instagrammer under the handle name, Ted the Stoner, has taken a change in his recent posts. His memes are now more focused towards societal issues rather than just a good laugh. The account has now become a platform to create awareness among young India, about climate change. A petition has been created by him asking his followers to pressurise the government and include climate change as an emergency.
He writes, “And if you are too lazy to sign it, at least share the link. We can use the petition as a reference when we physically face the people in charge. Simply signing it probably won’t do anything. But I promise you, I’ll do everything I can to make this reach his office and I’ll make sure we are heard. This is probably the only time I’m asking you guys to share something. Thank you!”

The petition has already gathered lakhs of signatures, including Bollywood celebs like Sonakshi Sinha. The stars have supported his cause and appealed to the masses to come forward and join the movement.
However, on Sunday, he took down the link to the petition, stating that it’s causing more harm and drama than good. He states, “I feel like I have enough contacts in the media and government now to take it forward with the support from you all. Whether or not it happens purely depends on the minister in charge. Our job is to try and put it on his table.”
Let’s hope for the best.
