Deepika has not been a survivor but also an advocate of mental health awareness. Coming out in 2015, she has been very vocal and open about her experience with depression. From day one, she is working as an active campaigner towards de-stigmatising mental illness. She started her own foundation, The Live, Love, Laugh Foundation, which reaches out to people struggling with mental health.
While receiving the award, she gave a heartfelt acceptance speech where she addressed her mental health and the need to raise awareness about it. The official Twitter handle of the World Economic Forum shared a snippet from Deepika’s acceptance speech.
