On the other hand, five security personnel were killed in action in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara town during a joint anti-terrorist operation by the armed forces and the state’s police.
PM Modi tweeted to pay a tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country while coming under heavy fire from the terrorists during the encounter in Handwara. Rescuing several civilians, two terrorists were also killed during the security operation.
Saluting the efforts of the martyrs, the five member team included decorated army officer Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj Sood, Naik Rajesh Kumar and Lance Naik Dinesh from the 21 Rashtriya Rifles unit as well as police officer Shakeel Ahmad Qazi. A sacrifice that will never be forgotten!
