The Ladies’ Wing of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 1966 with the intent to represent interests of women in Indian trade, commerce and industry. With over 2200 members, consisting of entrepreneurs, managers, professionals and women from leading business houses, the organisation has emerged as one of India’s most respected forums for creating socio-economic awareness, encouraging the spirit of enterprise and empowering women.
Mrs Anuja Mittal has been named the President of the IMC Ladies’ Wing for 2020-2021. An active member of the wing for more than two decades, Mrs. Mittal has served as an executive committee member for many years and has helmed various committees like the exhibition, business, events, cinema and travel committees as well. A jewellery designer by profession Mrs. Mittal holds diplomas in Gemmology and Diamond Sorting as well as in Interior Designing. Her passion for flowers has also led her to obtain a teachers degree from The Bombay Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Mrs. Mittal also devotes her time to a family run trust KG Mittal Ayurvedic Hospital.
“My theme of this year – WE Elevate, has been inspired by the current situation around the world, serving it as an outcry to all to imbibe the message it sends. WE Elevate – is a clarion call to all to seize the new opportunities, make some different choices and try things that have never been done before to elevate every aspect of life. It is an appeal to all to stand together in these difficult times, and elevate each other. ‘WE’ finds resonance with three important aspects to me; Women, Environment, and its literal meaning of being together,” says Mrs. Mittal
“In these difficult times, I feel it is imperative that we come together and pool in all our efforts in making a difference and making this vision become a reality. So while the countries in the world fight for power and dominance, while people of colored skin fight for their rightful place in society and while medical professionals fight against this unfortunate pandemic, we must strive to elevate each other to make this world a better place, one that our children and grandchildren growing up would be privileged to live in, “ she adds.
The IMC Ladies’ Wing has established a reputation for its landmark events such as its annual women entrepreneur’s exhibition, the awards for exemplary work by women in business in urban and in rural societies as well as a host of events through the year that create awareness, educate and empower women on their economic and social issues. “The IMC has always had a full calendar of events, and we intend to keep the momentum going with the able support of our new Vice President of IMC Ladies’ Wing – Mrs. Nishreen Khorakiwala and all the committee members. This year however, many of these events will be held as webinars as the present situation does not allow for physical events,” says Mrs. Mittal.
