Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, South India’s trusted heirloom brand, in collaboration with celebrated fashion designer and stylist Gaurang Shah hosted their first fashion runway at Taj Coromandel, last evening.
The VBJ and Gaurang Shah collaboration opened doors for the audience to witness timeless jewellery pieces and Indian weaves brought together under one roof. This association highlights the brand’s commitment in preserving and showcasing the rich heritage of Indian fashion in both traditional and contemporary styles. It is the first fashion show of its kind to take place in Chennai, making VBJ the trailblazer of this trend.
The event kicked off on a sublime note with melodic Carnatic numbers performed by renowned singer Mr. Unnikrishnan and young musical talent, Ms. Uthara Unnikrishnan accompanying the magnificent fashion runway.
The presentation was split into two segments with the first segment featuring models who adorned mesmerizing and colourful drapes based on traditional weaving techniques along with contemporary diamond-encrusted jewellery. The other segment featured models draped in contemporary sarees with exquisite gold and diamond jewellery in more traditional styles.
Each piece of jewellery from Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers was handcrafted, designed, and manufactured exclusively for this event and was styled to suit both, traditional and modern style of clothing. The models gracefully walked around the ballroom with poise, elegance, and pride wearing the VBJ pieces.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Amarendran Vummidi, Managing Director of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, Chennai said, “As a 124-year legacy brand, conserving the traditional art of jewellery making has been our vision. It was truly an exhilarating experience to work with Gaurang Shah who shares the same vision and ideas as we do. The response we received was phenomenal and we are looking at more such collaborations in the future.”
The starry night, filled with glitz and glamour, concluded on a fantastic note with the curators of the event, Ms. Vimmi, Ms. Sarika and Ms. Ranjitha walking the ramp along with the dynamic Vummidi brothers duo, Mr. Amarendran and Mr. Jithendra and Gaurang Shah.
