Upcoming Elvis Presley biopic from Baz Luhrmann has found its star. It is none other than Austin Butler who will play the role of ‘The King of Rock and Roll’. The unnamed biopic will focus on the singer’s meteoric rise and the beginnings of his career all the way through the long-running relationship he had with Parker.
It was revealed that Luhrmann’s Elvis would be played by Butler on his Instagram account, sharing a simple swipe left post. Check it out:
In the movie, Butler will act alongside Tom Hanks, who will play Elvis’s controlling manager, Col. Tom Parker. The film’s shooting will start in Australia early next year.
The announcement comes after a high profile casting search that considered actors Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, and Harry Style for the role alongside Austin Butler.
Austin quoted the lyrics of an Elvis song to share this news with his fans, writing, ‘You have made my life complete, and I love you so.’
