Mumbai’s iconic Taftoon Bar & Kitchen is celebrating 4 years of taking Mumbaikars on the gastronomical journey of the forgotten Grand Trunk Road.
Stepping into its 5th year on November 24, Taftoon Bar & Kitchen is an ode to the flavours of the Grand Trunk Road, and recreates a gastronomic journey from Kabul to the ancient site of Chittagong. Culture, traditions, cuisines are brought together through an exploration of authentic recipes recreated for the modern-day. The kitchen has brought forward several forgotten, unfamiliar flavours to the people of Mumbai, who may have
never experienced the food of these regions. The brand has stood the test of time despite the volatile past few months the F&B industry of India faced as a whole.
To celebrate the occasion, the restaurant will be offering a preview of some of their new menu additions. These Kathal ki Chapli, a refined Awadhi version of Chapli kebas made with raw jackfruit, spiced, and cooked on a tawa; Kundan Kaliyan, rich curry made with slow cooked mutton in a special 25-blend spice mix – ‘Lazzat-a-Taam’. Vegetarian guests can try Chaman Qaliya, a rich paneer curry made with Kashmiri spices in milk and scented with fennel and cardamom. The dessert menu features Strawberry Kalakand Crème Brulee, a baked, creamy custard with a sugar brittle on top of house made Kalakand, topped with fresh strawberries. These can be paired with signature cocktails like The Grand Trunk Cocktail, gin muddled with fresh Indian orange, cucumber juice, cilantro, and sour mix; Elixir of the Hills, white rum, muddled with fresh fragrant basil, fresh pineapple juice, hibiscus syrup, sour mix, and a dash of spice gomme; and Desert Tipple, tequila, agave nectar, salt, lime juice, and blue butterfly pea tea decoction.
“At a time when the industry has faced a blow and several businesses have unfortunately been forced to shut shop, we are grateful to our customers for their continued support and love, with which we are proudly stepping into our 5th year. In the coming year, we plan to broaden our horizon and take the brand pan-India, with several new twists along the way.’’, says Pankaj Gupta, owner of Taftoon Bar & Kitchen.
To commemorate the occasion, Taftoon will be offering a special 5-course meal, adding to the celebratory cheer. Customers can pre-book this experiential meal from November 21st – 30th 2021.
With a busy, bustling outlet in BKC, Taftoon will launch their second outlet in Mumbai early next year.
