In terms of sports, July has been an amazing month for India. Sportsperson, are making India proud by raising the flag higher in every tournament around the globe. During the weekend, Indian boxers won countless medals, adding more to the list.
Ashish Kumar bagged his first international gold in the 75kg boxing category at the, ‘Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament’, held in Bangkok. He was in an impeccable form, out punching Korea’s Kim Jinjae 5-0, to win the biggest medal of his career.
On his Instagram account, he shared this news, saying, “#Gold_medal_in_Thailand_open_international_boxing_tournament… It’s really a big day for me and family. I would like to thanks every single person who support me and pray for me…Thanq so much everyone for love and blessings ❤😊🙏”
The Indian contingent finished their campaign with a rich haul of eight medals, winning a gold, four silver, and three bronze. The silver medallists were, Nikhat Zareen (51kg), Deepak (49kg), Mohammed Hussamuddin (56kg) and Brijesh Yadav (81kg).
While, Ashish (69kg), Bhagyabati Kachari (75kg) and Manju Rani (48kg) won bronze for India.
Six-time world champion MC Mary Kom, claimed the gold medal in 51kg boxing final in the 23 President’s Cup, held in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.
Taking on her social media account, Mary Kom expressed her joy by sharing the video of the medal presentation ceremony. She wrote, “Gold for me and for my country again at #PresidentCupIndonesia. Winning means you’re willing to go longer, work harder and give more effort than anyone else. I sincerely thank to all my Coaches and support staffs of @[email protected] @media.iccsai”
In this tournament, the Indian boxers finished their campaign with nine medals, which includes seven gold and two silver, helping the contingent win the ‘Best Team’ award.
The women boxers had a flawless record, winning all four gold medals on offer. This included Mary Kom along with, Simranjit Kaur (64 kg), Jamuna Boro (54kg) and Monika (48kg).
In the men’s events, they had mixed fortunes, settling for two silver along with three gold.
Neeraj Swami (49kg), Ananta Prahlad Chopade (52kg) and Ankush Dahiya (64kg) stood on top of the podium. While, Dinesh Dagar (69 kg) and Gaurav Bidhuri (56 kg), had to settle with a silver medal.
