Delhi’s cultural scene is set to witness a spellbinding celebration of classical dance and spiritual storytelling as ‘Nayikas of Tulsidas – Echoes of Dignity and Grace’ takes center stage on 31st July 2025, at LTG Auditorium, Mandi House, from 6:00 PM onwards. Presented by Sindhu Mishra’s Aayam in collaboration with the Government of NCT of Delhi, this Bharatanatyam presentation delves deep into the strength, devotion, and grace of iconic women from Indian mythology — Sita and Parvati — as immortalised in the poetic works of Goswami Tulsidas.
Performed by the accomplished dancers Arshia Mathur and Krithika Kumar, the production opens with Natesha Kauthvam, a vibrant hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva, composed by the Tanjore Quartette, set to Ragam Hamsadhwani and Talam Adi. The performance continues with two expressive Varnams. Arshia Mathur brings alive the moment from the Baal Kand of Ramcharitmanas, where Sita, enchanted by Ram’s presence in the gardens of Mithila, prays earnestly to Goddess Bhavani to unite her with her beloved. This piece, composed and sung by Shri Nitin Sharma, is set to Ragam Bageshri and Talamaalika.
Following this, Krithika Kumar presents the journey of Parvati, who undertakes penance in the forest to win Shiva’s love. Based on verses from Ramcharitmanas, the piece portrays Parvati’s resolve even when tested by the Saptarishis. Set to a rich tapestry of ragas — Soni Bahar, Shahana-Bhimpilasi, and Sindhu Bhairavi — and Talam Chatusra Ekam, it too is composed and sung by Shri Nitin Sharma.
The evening concludes with a high-energy Thillana, composed by Poochi Sreenivaasa Aiyyangaar, set to Raagam Paras and Taalam Aadi, in praise of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. With Hindustani music by Shri Nitin Sharma and Carnatic vocals by Shri G Elangovan, the production blends rich classical vocabulary with contemporary storytelling under the artistic direction and choreography of Guru Smt. Sindhu Mishra.
The event will be graced by Shri Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi, as Chief Guest. ‘Nayikas of Tulsidas’ promises to offer Delhi audiences an evening of artistic brilliance, spiritual depth, and cultural richness.
