Team India seems to be doing great in all fronts of sports. No, we are not talking about cricket this time. We are talking about Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, held in Poland. Our star sprinter, Hima Das has made us proud once again by winning gold in women’s 200 metres.
The world junior champion and national record holder in 400 m, Hima has been struggling with her health from past few months. Even after suffering from a back problem, she clocked 23.65 seconds to win gold in the 200 m. And surprisingly, this was her first competitive 200 m race of the year. It was also a double win for India, when V K Vismaya begged a bronze, with a personal best of 23.75s in the same race.
Also, the national record holder of 400 m, Muhammed Anas, finished third in men’s 200m race, clocking 20.75 seconds. While, K S Jeevan won bronze, in the men’s 400 m event with a timing of 47.25 seconds.
Tajinder Pal Singh Toor, national record holder in the Shot Put, bagged the bronze medal. He is an Asian champion who won with the best effort of 19.62m. However, his Asian Games record last year was 20.75m.
Way to go team India!
