All weekend, Lewis Hamilton displayed the British flag, especially when he stepped on the podium after winning the British Grand Prix. This victory was dedicated to his fans who were jumping with excitement.
This race faced the stiffest competition in terms of grabbing the public’s attention. As London saw two more sport finales at the same time, still there was a sell-out crowd of 141,000, who clearly loved to see their British hero.
Between the contest of the Mercedes teammates, Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, Bottas came second. And in another battle between Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, threw up an epic scrap with Vettel finishing at the 16 position.
As done in 2017, Lewis returned to the crowd surfing embrace to celebrate his win, after the interviews and podium presentations. He is now the most successful racer, with having won five of the last six races here and has seven wins this season.
On his Instagram account, Hamilton wrote, ‘I can’t tell you how incredible this feels guys. Everyone’s support and energy out there, that was crazy. I can’t express how grateful I am to all the fans, and to my incredible team. We’ve worked really hard for this. The British Grand Prix means so much to me and to have a sixth win here at Silverstone, in front of all the home fans, this moment will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thanks for the positive energy everyone, we did this together 🙏🏾 #wewinandwelosetogether.’
