As temperatures rise and summer begins to take over the city, Journal, the beloved all-day café tucked away in the quiet lanes of Santacruz, launches a fresh, mango menu—a seasonal celebration of India’s most-loved fruit. Known for its mindful, comfort-first approach to food, Journal’s new summer additions are designed to offer relief from the heat, while delivering vibrant, wholesome flavors with just the right amount of indulgence.
“We wanted to bring the best of the season into the café in a way that felt refreshing and versatile–something for everyone, whether you’re after something nourishing or an indulgent sweet treat.” says Ateet Singh, co-founder of Journal.
At the heart of the menu is a curated mix of light, fruit-forward dishes and refreshing drinks. The Seasonal Mango and Avocado Salad pairs ripe Alphonso mangoes with Hass avocado, arugula, and a chili-lemon vinaigrette that balances the sweetness and richness of the salad with tang and a hint of spice. The Mango Passionfruit Smoothie Bowl offers a thicker, spoonable take on a summer classic blending mango and passionfruit into a tangy base and finishing it with fresh fruit and granola for crunch and contrast. On the more indulgent end is the Mango Shokupan Toast, made with thick-cut Japanese Hokkaido milk bread, fresh mango, a drizzle of honey, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melts right into the warm toast. It’s rich and perfect for a slow summer afternoon.
The beverage list includes the Mango Matcha Latte, a chilled blend of iced matcha, mango purée, and milk of your choice. The Mango Basil Seed Fizz is a cooling tropical drink with mango juice, soaked basil seeds, and sparkling water.
Available through the summer months, Journal’s mango menu offers city-dwellers a small escape through flavour whether you’re stopping by for a quick solo break or long, easy conversations over shared plates.
