Gully Boy has been recognised as the Best Asian Film, of this year, at 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, held in South Korea, this Sunday. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy is based on the life of an underground rapper, and is inspired by the lives of Indian rappers Divine and Naezy, from the slums of Dharavi, Mumbai. The film was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, Germany, this year and created a huge buzz, because of its exceptional storyline and outstanding performances.
Zoya Akhtar, Director and Producer, thanked BIFAN for recognizing her latest directorial film. ‘We see similarities, we see the common ground of humanity and we recognise our own spirit in another which also brings us closer. To have ‘Gully Boy’ recognised by BIFAN and by NETPAC is such a tremendous honour. One me and my crew will always be grateful for,’ Akhtar said in a statement.

Gully Boy is one of the blockbusters of Indian Cinema this year. It will also be screened at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, 2019.
